Questions related to your Stair Runner/Stair Rod

1. Why Use Stair Runners?
Stair runners add style to your house, and keep your staircases child-safe and elder-safe, since uncarpeted stairs tend to be very slippery.

2. What is Jute?
Jute is one of the softer natural flooring materials, made from the stems of the tropical herb Corchorus; a member of the Linden family, closely related to hemp.

3. What is Sisal?
Sisal is the hardest wearing of all the natural floorings. It is made from the leaves of the Agave Sisalana plant, a sub-tropical spiky plant related to the cactus.

4. What is Coir?
Coir is rustic, rugged and offers excellent wear at reasonable prices. It is made from the outer husk of the coconut.

5. How do I clean my Runner?
Jute runners and Sisal runners are best kept dry and should be cleaned using a dry rug cleaning powder. These powders can be purchased from any regular carpet store.

If any liquid is accidentally spilled on your runner, immediately blot it with a dry cloth or a terrycloth towel. Do NOT rub the liquid as it will ruin your carpet. Dry thoroughly with a hair dryer. If the liquid left a stain on your carpet, blot the carpet with mild soap and water, then dry it again with a cloth and hair dryer. Scrape any solids that spill on your carpet. You may also contact a professional carpet cleaner.

Of course, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Keep your carpets well maintained, by frequently vacuuming or sweeping your runners. And try the Japanese habit of taking off your shoes before going inside your house.
